The AU Learning Conference will take place on Friday April 28 from 500 PM-800 PM (Registration and Dinner) and from 700 AM to 400 PM on Saturday April 29 (Registration/Breakfast, Keynote, Breakout Sessions from 930-245, Closing Plenary 300-400, with a lunch break between 1200 and 1245). AU is seeing a lot of interest in the event.
CUPE 3911 hopes that lots of our tutors and AEs will attend. As part of the conference, CUPE Executives Mark Dimirsky and Glynnis Lieb will be doing a session on The Wellness Project that CUPE 3911 is now developing. Later, CUPE 3911 executive members Glynnis Lieb, Dougal MacDonald, and Natalie Sharpe will be doing a session called “Learning Like You’ll Live Forever”.
You can find more information about the conference on the conference website: http://learningconference.athabascau.ca/. The site now includes specific descriptions of all the presentations and their time slots. Hopefully people have registered by now.
AU has helpfully provided answers to some of the many questions from tutors and AEs about the conference, as follows:
We have coordinated and pre-paid travel arrangements for anyone traveling to the conference from Calgary and surrounding areas. A chartered bus will depart to the Executive Royal Hotel in Leduc from Bow Valley College in Calgary at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 27, 2018, and return at 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
Food and refreshments will be provided during the conference for all attendees.
As with the tutor conference over recent years, reimbursement for other eligible travel-related expenses will be limited to $200.00.
All tutors and academic experts will be paid $100 for attendance at the conference.
